City Attorney

The City Attorney is the chief legal officer of the City of Wheatland and is responsible for advising the City Council, Mayor, City Manager and City commissions and boards as to all legal matters pertaining to the City. The City Attorney provides department heads with advice regarding the law as it relates to the affairs of the various City departments. The City Attorney’s office prepares and/or reviews all ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other significant legal documents, and he represents the City in civil litigation and acts as liaison to outside special counsel. The City Attorney is the attorney for the City of Wheatland as an entity. The City Attorney does not and cannot represent or provide legal advice to individual City officers, employees, citizens or groups.
